Q. What's the oldest book you have? Can I see it?

The oldest book—and oldest item, overall—in JCU's Special Collections was printed in 1470.

Appropriately for a Jesuit university such as JCU, our oldest book is the Summa Theologica (or Summa Theologiae) by Saint Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), his best known work, which summarizes the teachings  of the Catholic church.

Yes, everyone is welcome to see the book! But, materials in Special Collections must be requested in advance. Complete the registration form, and we'll be in touch!
